I also thought that the arch was illuminated at night, but apparently nowadays, they turn off the lights in September to avoid confusing migrating birds.
This game took longer than last night's very short game, but still less than 2 and a half hours. Tonight, the Cardinals scored 2 runs early and ended up winning 5-1.
There was a brief period of rainfall during the middle innings whilst I was inside and when I came back out it was barely raining at all, although all the seats were a bit wet, so I just sat in one of the very many empty seats towards the back of the section that were under cover of the upper deck and thus had remained dry.
In the seventh inning stretch during the traditional singing of Take Me Out To The Ballgame, the Cardinals have local school choirs come on to lead the singing. They all come out through the gate in the right field corner, onto the warning track next to the foul pole, sing the song and then out again. Both times, they've been very good, and well choreographed so they are off the field well before play is due to resume!
