Today I went to Union Station. It was only a mile away, so I decided to walk rather than take the light rail the two stops along. Google Maps wanted me to take a weird route, rather than directly along one street. I think that maybe this was down to it wanting to stick to marked pedestrian crossings, because on the way back, I did follow its route and every road junction I came to had traffic lights with a pedestrian phase.
Union Station was much nicer than the last time I visited, which was several years ago, when it looked almost derelict in places, with lots of closed down shops and what looked like abandonned construction works. Now with the aquarium and restaurants that were all open, it is a much better place to visit. The koi carp are still there. They can have very long lives, apparently, several decades long. I don't think they are extracted by the seafood restaurant right next to their pool!
Of course, post-Labor Day, it was very quiet.
I had lunch in the restaurant there, which wasn't all that great, really, before returning back to my hotel to drop everything off to cross the road to go to the ballgame.
